AHUJA BAJAJ SYMPOSIUM 6- NOVEMBER 21-22, 2020
National Diabetes Obesity and Cholesterol Foundation and FORTIS CDOC hospital organised Ahuja Bajaj symposium-6, on “Current concepts in ‘Diabetes Obesity and Metabolic diseases from 21-22, November 2020 which was virtual with about 25 state of art lectures from National and International speakers. In this symposium top national experts delivered six interesting diet/nutrition related lectures and more over Diet and diabetes quiz where attractive prizes were won by the participants. On day 1, on November 21, 2020 it started from 5.30 pm and lasted till 9.30 pm and was logged in live by about 744 people. There were 13 lectures and one Diabetes Quiz in this session. In this session very interesting topic were covered by distinguished speakers. Dr Anoop Misra organizing chairman and Director Fortis Hospital inaugurated the symposium by paying special tribute to legendary Professor MMS Ahuja and Professor JS Bajaj who were the pioneer in the fields of diabetes.

Dr Amrtia Ghosh, Consultant, Fortis CDOC Hospital, New Delhi spoke about Continuous glucose monitoring, while Dr Ritesh Gupta, Additional Director, Fortis CDOC Hospital, New Delhi spoke about SGLT2 Inhibitors and Heart Failure: “Novel Dietary Interventions to control Post Prandial Hyperglycemia was covered in a lucid way by Dr Seema Gulati Director, Nutrition Research Group, N-DOC, New Delhi.

Ageing, Frailty and Diabetes a very interesting topic was covered by Dr. Om Ganda Medical Director, Joslin Diabetes Centre,Harvard Medical School, Boston,USA. Other international speakers on this day was Dr. Harpreet Singh Bajaj, Endocrinologist, Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Canada, Dr. Vinaya Simha,Consultant, Division of Endocrinology, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA, Dr. Jayant Dey, Endocrinologist, Tupelo, USA

One day 2, November 22, 2020 it started from 10.00 am and ended at 1.30 pm the total logged in were 950 till the end of this symposium. On this day also International Speakers included Prof. Jeyakumar Henry, Professor, Department of Biochemistry,National University of Singapore who spoke about,Food based interventions for the management of Diabetes – Myth or Reality? Ms. Purva Gulyani, Senior Dietitian, Craigieburn,Victoria, Australia who spoke about How to Indianize Mediterranean Diets, and Dr. Ranil Jayawardena Professor, Department of Physiology, University of Colombo, Colombo, Sri Lanka spoke about oconut Oil and Health. Dr. Atul Luthra, Additional Director, Fortis CDOC at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram,Haryana presided over these session and also spoke about Newer Basal Insulins: Potential for Control of Time in Range

This symposium was a grand success since it was organised virtually online due to Covid-19 situations but was logged in by about 950 participants from all over India and neighbouring countries.
Before the symposium digital flyer and scientific agenda was shared by many health professionals medical experts nutritionist and diabetes educators that helped them to seek interest in the topics and helped them to log in to attend this symposium.

12th Ahuja Bajaj Symposium was held on 3rd and 4th August 2024 at Grand Hotel New Delhi, organised by Fortis CDOC and NDOC Foundation. This symposium was a resounding success drawing over 400 enthusiastic participants.

The event featured an impressive line up of brilliant speakers who presented a wide array of research presentations, ranging from cutting edge topics particularly on mangoes, yoghurts, Vitamin D and other ground breaking advancement in medical sciences. Attendees were engaged in thought provoking discussions and interactive sessions, fostering an environment of collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The symposium not only showcased pioneering research but also provided a valuable platform for networking and future collaborations, leaving participants inspired and invigorated by the wealth of knowledge and ideas shared.

Ahuja Bajaj Symposium, 11th Edition 25th and 26th November 2023

The 11th Edition of the Ahuja Bajaj Symposium, held on November 25th and 26th, 2023, successfully concluded on 26th November 2023 (Sunday) at 2 pm, featuring an impressive array of 38 concise lectures that showcased cutting-edge research in the fields of diabetes, metabolism, and nutrition.

Throughout both days, specially of week days the symposium garnered a remarkable response, with a fully packed auditorium and an engaged audience savoring the intellectual feast presented by a distinguished lineup of both national and international speakers.

A notable highlight of this edition was the unveiling of a new definition of obesity by Professor Anoop Misra, adding a significant layer of insight to the discourse. Additionally, the symposium featured the presentation of numerous groundbreaking papers exploring diverse facets of diabetes, metabolism, and nutrition.

National Diabetes Obesity and Cholesterol Foundation and FORTIS CDOC hospital jointly organises Ahuja Bajaj symposium, every year, on “Current concepts in ‘Diabetes Obesity and Metabolic diseases. This symposium was started in year 2017 in the memory of legendaries Professor MMS Ahuja and Professor JS Bajaj who were the pioneers in the fields of diabetes. 

Through the symposium our aim is to provide researchers and experts in medical, public and non-communicable diseases a platform to share latest scientific knowledge and advancement in the field of diabetes. We have successfully organized 10th edition of Ahuja Bajaj symposium till date and planning to organize 11th  edition very soon.

Ahuja Bajaj Symposium-10, November 19 (online) and 20, 2022 (on site)

The tenth edition of Ahuja Bajaj Symposium held on 19th and 20th November 2022, being organised by National Diabetes Obesity & Cholesterol Foundation and Fortis CDOC Hospital for diabetes and Allied diseases .It was a very successful event both online on 19tth November 2022 with 350 live views and 660 registrations and second day i.e 20th November 2022 onsite with six hours, 24 lectures. All lectures were short, crisp, and clear. New data. New drugs. Plenty of nutrition related discussion. It was the first time that there were no chairpersons. no mementos.Time was well managed. 45 questions were answered. Packed hall with 350 attendees. Free “Diabetes with Delight” book distributed to all.

Dr. Anoop Misra launched the Hindi translated version “Diabetes Ke Saath Bhi Khushaal Jeevan” of his book “Diabetes with delight” on January 12, 2020 at world Book Fair, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. With the august audience present during the book launch he discussed special features of this book on this occasions and new chapters included in this Hindi version. Mr. Satyadev Pachauri, Mr. Alok Mehta and Mr. Suman Kumar who were present during the book launch also spoke about the special features of this book.

Ahuja Baja Symposium V

Ahuja Baja Symposium V on “Recent advances in Diabetes, Obesity, Metabolic Diseases and Nutrition” was organized by National Diabetes Obesity and Cholesterol (NDOC) Foundation and Fortis CDOC on September 22, 2019 at Eros Hotel, Nehru Place New Delhi. This was a full day event with constellation of 31 speakers who presented their studies with powerful and crisp presentation that received great laurel from about 450 participants present on that day. In this symposium about 22 stalls from various Pharmaceuticals were also put-up that gave a lot of information about latest medicines for diabetes, blood pressure and heart ailments that attracted a lot of crowd.

Dr. (Prof. ) Anoop Misra chairman fortis CDOC hospital and chairman NDOC thanked all speakers for their valuable contribution through presentations and talk. He further thanked all team for their efforts to make this program a successful.

Ahuja Bajaj Symposium IV was organised on Sunday 21, April 2019 by National Diabetes Obesity and Cholesterol Foundation (NDOC and Fortis CDOC Hospital ay  Hotel Suryaa, New Delhi. About 100 medical doctors and researchers from the field of diabetes and Allied medicine participated in this event. Besides scientific presentations of doctor it gave young researchers a platform  to interact with eminent doctors and some young researchers also presented

Ahuja Bajaj Symposium-III on “Current Concepts in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolic Diseases” held on Saturday, 24th March 2018, organised by National Diabetes, Obesity and Cholesterol Foundation (N-DOC) and Fortis C-DOC Hospital, New Delhi. The symposium was held at Hotel Taj, Diplomatic Enclave, New Delhi.

It provided a platform for the medical community to share the latest scientific knowledge and advancements in the field of diabetes, obesity and metabolic diseases. This symposia was highly successful and brought together a large number of experts from this field. Dr Anil Kapur chairman World Diabetes Foundation received Award lecture for excellence in Leadership in Diabetes and Dr. Vijay Viswanathan Head and Chief Diabetologist, MV Hospital for Diabetes, Chennai, received Award lecture in Excellence in Research in Diabetes.

2. Symposium on “Obesity and Diabetes in India: Public health Challenges”. This event was held in Eros Hotel, Nehru Place New Delhi, November 12, 2016. Eminent doctors from the field of Diabetes, cardiothoracic and Nutrition presented their studies. It was attended by about 200 participants mostly doctors and research scientist form different hospitals.

Ahuja Bajaj Symposium-I on Current Concepts in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolic Diseases” held on Saturday, 18th March 2017, being organized by National Diabetes, Obesity and Cholesterol Foundation (NDOC) and Fortis C-DOC Hospital, New Delhi. The symposium is dedicated to two distinguished personalities in the field of diabetes and endocrinology, namely Padam Shree Late Prof MMS Ahuja and Padam Bhushan Prof J S Bajaj. Both these luminaries contributed greatly to the field of diabetes and laid the foundation for research and practice in this field in India.
